Client Intro
SCM Insurance Services is Canada’s largest independent, privately-owned provider of claims management, risk management, medical evaluations, and related services.
With 146 companies under the SCM umbrella, the company’s mobility program has thousands of users. These employee users count on SCM to provide effective services for billing, hardware, and technical support.
Challenge
As SCM grew over the years, its wireless management group faced complex challenges. The increasing number of devices made tracking usage and managing billing inefficient. Paper invoices could no longer keep up and SCM knew they needed a more modern solution.
With an ever-growing list of wireless hardware on the market, keeping specific approved devices was also difficult. SCM needed a solution that allowed employees to choose their preferred devices while staying within the company’s budget.
Solution
In 2014, SCM turned to DMI to help manage their mobile devices. After listening closely to SCM’s needs, DMI created and implemented a customized hardware purchasing portal system to give employees more options and flexibility.
SCM now uses DMI MyServe, a platform that enables businesses to manage their wireless and wireline services in one spot. Key features include inventory management, usage monitoring, and reporting and analytics.
With DMI MyServe’s full suite of tools, businesses can reduce team workloads and provide greater visibility to multiple levels of the organization.
This platform plays a crucial role in SCM’s ability to provide the level of wireless management services their employees require while closely managing costs.

Impact
Through their partnership with DMI, SCM not only saved on internal hours but also increased employee satisfaction by providing more hardware options.
DMI also makes it easy for SCM to see the big picture — whether they need to track active devices or see exactly how much wireless usage costs the company month to month.
By relying on the knowledge and experience DMI offers, SCM doesn’t need to hire specialized staff to oversee the company’s wireless program and implement expansive policies for managing cell phones.
SCM also doesn’t need to devote internal resources to implementing devices, managing cellular billing information, and keeping information secure.
Looking ahead, SCM knows DMI will continue to meet their needs and provide innovative solutions to new challenges as they arise.
