Challenge

As With the surge of digital gaming and sports wagering, unusual activity has increased. Current semi-automated processes were not efficient and effective enough to track many cases.
Investigation conclusions were delayed or left incomplete due to lots of manual entry and a lack of historical case insights and information.

Solution

A ground-up custom build would have been costly and complex, and there were no pre-built solutions on the market for DC OLG. DMI offered our low-code CaseCloud AI Platform to accelerate the creation and long-term maintenance of this solution.

Our solution provides an easy-to-use, end-to-end workflow for a fraudulent inquiry, from reporting to investigation and conclusion. The solution integrates with existing applications to deliver a unified view of the case data.

DMI automated the Unusual Activity Reporting (UAR) process using the data of two vendor applications. The dashboard is customized to show different workflow trends, investigator caseloads, and open UAR’s. Statistical reports are customized using Grafana based on business requirements. The integrated timeline graph shows the different UAR statuses alongside worker data and dates/timestamps.

Impact

With access to historical data combined with AI, the DC OLG can discover trends and implement better proactive measures to stop fraud and prevent future losses.
Initially all the documentation was done manually, and the fraud report was provided only once per week. Now, the process is automated; the system reads excel sheets and assigns the case to a supervisor directly. The automation makes life easier for employees at all levels and saves time and money.
