TYSONS, VA – April 29, 2025Rocky Thurston, Chief Executive Officer of DMI, has been named Chair of the 2025 Greater Washington Region Heart Walk. Active in more than 200 cities nationwide, the Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s premier event for raising funds and awareness to fight heart disease and stroke. The Washington Region walk will take place on Saturday, November 1 at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. 

As Chair, Thurston will lead the campaign to rally local organizations and individuals to join the Heart Walk movement. The movement’s goal is to build healthier communities and support lifesaving research. 

“Many of DMI’s employees have been impacted by heart disease—whether through family, friends, or personal experience,” Rocky said. “It’s a powerful reminder that this disease impacts many lives, and I’m proud to support the Heart Walk and the mission of the American Heart Association.” 

The Greater Washington Region Heart Walk is part of a nationwide initiative to improve heart health through community engagement, CPR education, and equitable access to care. The event brings together survivors, caregivers, advocates, and businesses for a day of celebration and purpose—raising critical funds to fight cardiovascular disease.
