Our Take

The Whole Foods application is well-designed, provides a thoughtful and simple user experience, however it’s purpose is centered around recipes, content, and regional promotions. There is little connection with the in-store shopping experience or inventory in a particular store. While there is no ecommerce capability through the app, you have the ability to create shopping lists and locate near-by stores. Our survey results noted that high-income earners, parents, and millennials are the most likely to be positively influenced by a stronger mobile in-store experience – Whole Foods should explore rolling out features geared towards expanding the app’s in-store capabilities to reap the benefits.
