Safeway’s application lacks any real connection to the in-store shopping experience. The app does help shoppers find a specific store, informing shoppers of what’s on sale and helping shoppers understand where to find items within the store which is great for a shopper in a hurry. However, the guided shopping experience was only for products that were on sale, and was not available for their full product selection. The application also did a nice job of informing customers of their gas points and nearby gas station locations. The bar code feature only worked for items that were on sale at the time of the scan, which was a disappointment – since all the information that’s available to customers on sale items would be helpful to know for all of their products.
