Digital Management Wins Contract with USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) to Enhance the Livestock Mandatory Price Reporting System (LMPRS) Data Mart Dashboard
Well-Received LMPRS Dashboard Expanding to Include Lamb and Swine Market Data
Bethesda, MD—November 24, 2010—Digital Management, Inc. (www.digitalmanagement.com), a leading IT solutions and business strategy consulting firm, announced today it has been awarded a contract by the USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) to extend its popular Livestock Mandatory Price Reporting System (LMPRS) Data Mart Dashboard.
Operational since 2002, the LMPRS accepts data from the livestock industry, archives, translates, and analyzes the data, and produces aggregated reports for distribution to the public via the Internet.
Digital Management recently developed a Data Visualization Dashboard to support Data Mart, the repository for USDA’s LMPRS. By integrating the Dashboard with the existing LMPRS interface, Digital Management enhanced the aggregated market reporting capabilities for Cattle data, creating a highly flexible, easy-to-use, visually appealing user interface for analyzing market data.
These initial innovations have been well-received: In August, John Harrington, DTN Livestock Analyst with Harrington’s Sort & Cull/DTN the Progressive Farmer wrote, “The dashboard is an easily accessible database covering all fed cattle sales over the last four years. The market information can be sliced and diced according to head count, price, region and types of sale, and the data is neatly displayed as totals, percentages, pie charts and line charts. As far as it goes, it’s definitely a step in the right direction.” In response to encouraging industry feedback like this, the USDA has contracted with Digital Management to expand the Dashboard to support lamb and swine livestock commodities.
“We are very excited to be given the opportunity to strengthen our relationship with the USDA,” said Jay Sunny Bajaj, Digital Management’s President and CEO. “Anytime we win multiple contracts with an existing client means we’re doing something right. The USDA continues to rely on us to create more user-friendly and effective ways to publish its vital data resources.”
