Digital Management Performs E-Authentication Risks and Requirements Assessment

Company Selected to Help SBA Meet OMB E-Authentication Requirements

Bethesda, MD—January 3, 2005–Digital Management, Inc., the secure e-government solutions company, announced today that it was contracted by the Small Business Administration (SBA) to conduct an E-Authentication Risk Assessment for 10 major SBA systems. Digital Management successfully completed this time-critical initiative on time and within budget.

One of the twenty-five e-government initiatives laid forth in the President’s Management Agenda, E-Authentication is focused on providing improved security throughout government IT systems through the provisioning of federated identity management. In a critical step towards establishing E-Authentication, agencies are mandated by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to identify potential transaction level risks within major applications and map those risks to required assurance levels. All federal agencies were required to complete the E-Authentication Risk Assessment task before the end of 2004. Digital Management employed an Electronic Risk and Requirements Assessment (E-RA) tool and a well-defined methodology to identify the risks associated with insufficient user authentication for each of SBA’s 10 affected systems. Digital Management completed these assessments within the required schedule, and the results will become (along with the assessments from other agencies) the basis for the definition of government-wide e-authentication requirements.
