Digital Management Awarded Broad, 3-Year Contract with the Department of Commerce
Company Selected to Support and Modernize Nation’s Vital Economic Reporting Systems
Bethesda, MD—January 25, 2008–Digital Management, Inc., announced today that it has won a 3-year contract with the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) to provide full software development lifecycle support (SDLC) for the Bureau’s economic estimation systems which enable the Bureau to report on the nation’s economy.
BEA produces some of the most vital and closely watched economic accounts data in the world and is recognized as a global leader in the production of economic statistics and analysis. The information products that BEA produces influence political, business, and individual decisions worldwide. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP), for example, is recognized by the Department of Commerce as its greatest achievement of the 20th century and is one of the most influential measures affecting financial markets worldwide.
Digital Management has been selected as the Bureau’s partner in supporting and modernizing the Bureau’s Estimation IT System (BEA-EITS). BEA-EITS forms the technological foundation for the timely, accurate, and comprehensive release of of BEA’s economic statistics, supporting the production of 15,000 time series each month and hundreds of thousands of other data products released quarterly and annually. Under this new contract, Digital Management will provide a broad range of professional services to support BEA-EITS reengineering efforts.

As part of this 3-year contract, Digital Management will provide professional services for software application development and technology infrastructure development including project management, IT/functional planning and analysis, requirements analysis, design, software development, testing, documentation, implementation, and operations and maintenance. Modernization efforts will include redesigning core systems and applications; standardizing data structures and databases; applying web-based technologies to improve the collection, access, and dissemination of data; and researching advanced network technologies that will assure Bureau system reliability and security.
