Scott Totman

Head of Mobile Technology, Payments, and Innovation

A technology executive who enjoys exploring the connections between business and tech, Scott Totman leads Mobile Engineering at Capital One. Scott’s team of more than 200 Engineers is spread across NoVa, Richmond, Wilmington, and San Francisco, and is responsible for developing and delivering industry-leading mobile experiences in Capital One’s flagship applications. Scott started his career working on communications projects for government intelligence agencies, but soon realized that he wanted to work in consumer technology. After leaving the public sector, he joined AOL, where he worked his way up to the VP of Messaging Technology (think AIM & ICQ). After leaving AOL in 2011, Scott did a stint in the start up world as the CTO of Mobile Posse, before joining Capital One in 2012. Scott joined Capital One as the head of Engineering for the innovation-focused Labs team. In his role at the Labs, Scott led the development of next generation credit and banking applications utilizing human centric design based on d.school studies. He also led the effort to build out Capital One’s ApplePay solution, including the launch partnership with Apple. Scott holds a B.S. in Computer Science from William & Mary, a M.S. in Software Engineering from George Mason, and an M.B.A. from Virginia Tech.

Kevin Alansky is the Chief Marketing Officer of CircleBack, which provides mobile applications and business CRM solutions designed to help individuals and organizations keep their contact data organized and up-to-date. Kevin is responsible for growing the brand and the user-base of the consumer mobile applications.

Prior to joining CircleBack, Kevin was the CMO of SocialRadar, a venture-backed startup developing mobile location-based technologies including a consumer app and a software development kit targeting app developers. Kevin also spent 12 years at Blackboard where he played a key role in integrating social media into the corporate marketing strategy. He led the Blackboard Social Marketing Team, which leveraged these new technologies to increase brand awareness, customer engagement and lead generation. Kevin has also held executive marketing positions at Discovery Communications, Washington Wizards & Capitals and Arnold Worldwide, where he managed SAP and McDonald’s accounts.

Pete’s events have drawn more than 10,000 attendees and his newest creations- The Aspen Software Leadership Summit and The Code Writers Workshop kick off in the fall of 2015.

Pete is a noted speaker and has appeared nationally on NPR, ABC and CBS News and is the “Tech Guru” for Fox5 DC providing expert commentary on mobile and technology trends.
