POWER BI DASHBOARD DELIVERS ACTIONABLE INSIGHTS
The ChallengeA leading Children's Hospital is dedicated to reducing the readmission rate of patients and increasing the percentage of provider appointments offered during family-friendly hours. To proactively reach these goals, the hospital had implemented numerous enterprise Business Intelligence projects including Data Warehouse, Enterprise Data Portal, and Self-Service BI. However, a key challenge was training their team on how to use these tools effectively to facilitate analytics and reporting to leverage their data to its full potential. Further, the hospital needed a data-driven dashboard to effectively track key metrics related to its business goals.
Our InsightUnderstanding the needs of the organization, we recommended a hand-on workshop to delve into the hospital's data and analytics tools. Prior to the workshop, our consultants worked with the hospital's team members to develop step-by-step instructions utilizing the hospital's actual data set and a real business problem they were looking to solve.
28 end users representing all major areas of the organization attended a 3-day hands-on workshop to learn Power Query, Power Pivot, Power View, and Power Map.
INCREASED EXPOSURE TO KEY METRICS
During the workshop, we created a user-friendly, automated dashboard that tracks all key metrics that relate to readmission rates & provider appointments.
The new dashboard increases the visibility of the data and also empowers users to do their own deeper analysis. For example, the team can now better understand how to proactively reduce readmission rates by digging into the data to determine if a patient is being readmitted for the same issue or a different one, if they’re seeing the same provider, the therapy that is being prescribed, and more. Likewise, they can evaluate key trends in relationship to provider appointments during family-friendly hours.
